I was surfing the internet last night and found this article. It focuses on converting color photos into black and white, and also gives directions for other cool photoshop features. I think it would be fun to try some of them. The article is from the Nature Photographers Online Magazine. Pretty neat!

Here is one of the pictures from the article.

I decided to post about some of my favorite things this week!
This is one of my favorite trails to run in the Gallatin Valley. The picture was taken with my iPhone a few weeks before school started this semester. I like it because of the different shades of green and how the light shines in on the upper right of the picture. I also like how you can see the trail curving into the distance. It makes me want to jump into the picture and start running to see where the trail goes.
I love fish. These are two of my five angelfish that i have at home in my aquarium. This picture was also taken with an iPhone. I really enjoy how bright the colors turned out. It is also a great picture because the fish didn't come out blurry. It took quite a few tries to get a picture that wasn't blurry.
Yet another iPhone picture! I love animals. This is my hamster. I was bored one day so i decided to photograph him. I like how it looks like he is chuckling in the shirt pocket. The dark colors on the shirt give a nice contrast to his light coloring.

Lastly, this is my yellow lab, his name is Clyde. I like this picture because i love my doggy, and also because of the rainbow! My dad took this picture with his iPhone yesterday and sent it to me. The rainbow makes a pretty nice background for this picture. I wish the upper left side of the picture wasn't so bright. It is kind of distracting to me. The bluish sky in the right half of the picture is much more appealing than the bright white in the left.

For this blog post i decided to show some pictures of home (Belgrade/Bozeman). This picture was taken during the summer with a cell phone camera. I was on a bike ride when i realized how beautiful farm land is. The picture was taken as the sun was starting to set for the evening.

This picture was also taken with a cell phone camera. I was out on a run and met this big fella. He was watching me run laps around a pond so i decided to snap a picture of him. I like how the cow is so dark and black, yet not a blob of dark color. His features can still be seen. I also like how he stands out from his green grass background.
This picture was taken on the last day of hunting season last year. It was taken with a point and shoot digital camera. I was just messing around with it, waiting for some deer to wander in. I don't really know why, but i love it. I like all of the different shades of brown, and also how you can still see tiny amounts of snow still on the ground. I made it bigger than the other pictures because i like it a lot.
...And we got one! Got him like two minutes before legal shooting light ended. Had to gut him out in the dark but it was pretty fun!

This picture was taken by my friend Kyle Breschini on a snowshoeing trip last winter. I love this picture. I like how the light hits the mountain and gives it kind of a surreal feeling. Snow is very beautiful and peaceful to me. I also like how the lake is nestled in the lower half of the picture making it seem like kind of a cozy place. When i look at this picture i just want to go back in time to this day.
